1974, 450SEL front door handle, inner RH

I am in urgent need of an inner door handle, RH front.

My local Benz dealer cannot even find a reference in their parts manual , & is going to ring me back !!

This is about the fourth one that I have broken in about 19 1/2 years,..diecast garbage.

Any clues out there,..either new or used ?

A mate at Mercedes Benz of Melbourne reckons it's $82 + tax. It would have to be ordered in, so would be about a week.

I have replaced the same on one of the 6.9s - the grey cast part that you can't normally see had broken in a few places, meaning wobbly but still functioning handle.

Got the part new, from AutoHaus AZ, for about the price they are now - ~USD$40.

Worrells will have 1 in tomorrow morning,.. $81 + GST which I will get.

Any way of reinforcing these mothers to prevent further breakage ? Cannot use too much heat on diecast to add a bit of bronze or something, but perhaps silver solder ?
